had to look this pithy quote up…a rather bleak sentiment that I kind of really like with the photo…it also reminds me of the short story “After the Deluge” by Karen Blixen (Isak Dinesen) that deals also deals with a similar topic.
You have no idea how your photo alarmed me! My place was flooded more than once (and the drainpipe had come off the wall), an absolute disaster. The place underneath was flooded, too. They wanted to take me to court, even though my insurance covered all costs. Normally I’m fearless, but a loose pipe is a real nightmare now.
one just never knows what will be a trigger…sorry to hear about the flooding (but thankfully you had insurance)…it is so often the little things that get us – a kingdom lost for want of a nail.
